Tun Sakaran Marin Parks - Bohey Dulang Island

Tun Sakaran Marine Park (TSMP) are situated at the entrance to Darvel Bay, off the East coast of Sabah near the town of Semporna, it took about 45 minutes by speed boat from the jetty of this small town. They comprising 8 islands, their surrounding reefs, and sea. Its main objective is to protect their environment and to promote sustainable use of natural resources. Geologically, the islands are formed from Quaternary pyroclastic material, which was ejected during explosive volcanic activity. Pulau Bodgaya, Boheydulang, Tetagan, Selakan, Sebangkat, Maiga, Sibuan and Mantabuan.

My sampling site is at Bohey Dulang Island, therefore we stayed at the quarters with the staff. This island no resort, therefore tourist only came and visit as a day tour, to visit the Giant Clam Research Centre or do hiking to the peak to have a nice view from the top. The hiking is about 600m, takes about 40mins.

Day time, we will go the nearby diving spot for diving and look for sea turtle, afternoon we will go out to the seagrass area with a local fisherman to rodeo catch the sea turtles. This is a place where most of my samples came from.

Special thanks to all the staffs for everthing.
